NativeOUT was originally founded by Corey Taber, Abrose Nelson, and Victor Bane in 2004, as a local social group named the Phoenix Two Spirit Society. Since that time, we’ve evolved into a national unincorporated nonprofit education and media organization, actively involved in the Two Spirit Movement. We utilize the internet, through our website, multimedia, and social networks to educate about the Indigenous LGBTQ/Two Spirit people of North America. Our vision is to create social change in rural and urban communities that benefit Indigenous Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Two Spirit people. Our mission is: To empower Indigenous LGBTQ/Two-Spirit people across North America to work towards social change in their communities. To connect Indigenous LGBTQ/Two-Spirit people and groups with the International Two Spirit Movement. To increase the visibility of Indigenous LGBTQ/Two-Spirit people and their allies. To support people and organizations in outreach to Indigenous LGBTQ/Two-Spirit people and their communities. Our website is always changing and we’d like your feedback. Please send us emails about the site; we're open to positive feedback and constructive criticism. The internet and mobile devices are tools we are using to implement our mission so your feedback is valuable. We currently have over 60,000 visitors to our website per month (nativeout.com), active social networking websites (Facebook, MySpace), over 500 subscribers to our newsletter, multimedia production (video, audio, etc.) and are always seeking innovative ways to deliver information to the world.
